HyperX’s new CloudAlpha headphones promise comfort and clarity for pro gamers

After two years in development, HyperX has unveiled the latest in its Cloud headset family, called the Cloud Alpha. Announced at Gamescom in Cologne, the headphones have a new dual-chamber design, which HyperX claims will improve audio quality by tuning and separating the bass from the mids and highs. HyperX, a brand popular with professional e-sports players, says the dual chambers reduce distortion, and provide a “rich, textured sound for extraordinary spatial awareness,” that can be worn comfortably for hours at a time.

The new model replaces its previous HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset, and features memory foam and a lighter design because of its aluminum frame. Console gamers can adjust the volume and mute the noise-cancelling microphone with the headphone’s detachable cable which has an in-line audio control. It’s compatible with PCs and the major consoles — including Nintendo Switch, and VR systems with a 3.5mm port.

The headphones cost $99.99 and will start shipping from September 25th. That puts them in the same price league as the Corsair Void Pro released yesterday, and the Logitech G433 launched in June.
