LG's 15-inch MacBook lookalike is now on sale from $1,100

This January, LG unveiled its 15-inch Gram laptop — a slim and lightweight Windows 10 machine that borrows liberally from the design stylings of Apple’s MacBook. (And, really, there’s nothing wrong with that.) Now, the company has announced pricing for the laptop, with the 15-inch Gram starting at $1,100 for a version with a Core i5 processor, and going up to $1,500 for one with a Core i7. Both are available to buy online from Amazon, Fry’s, and B&H.

Both models are just 0.6-inches thick and weigh in at under 2.2 pounds — an impressive feat for a device with a 15-inch, 1080p display. The Gram also offers up to seven hours of a battery life, a USB Type-C port (as well as HDMI, USB 3.0, microUSB and microSD slots), 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB or 512GB solid state hard drive.

LG made compromises with the smaller, 14-inch Gram

Compared to Apple’s only 15-inch laptop, the MacBook Pro, the LG Gram is cheaper, slimmer, and lighter. However, it also has half the RAM, less battery life, a lower resolution screen, and no option for a dedicated GPU. In our review of the 14-inch Gram, we also found that LG had made sacrifices to meet its weight requirements, and that the Gram’s overall build quality was disappointingly flimsy. We’ll have to wait until we get our hands on the 15-inch version to see how it stands up.
