This throwback Ford GT paint job is drop-dead gorgeous

Thanks to a new throwback livery, Ford has taken the GT, perhaps the sickest car the company has ever made, and made it even better.

It’s called the Ford GT ’66 Heritage Edition and it’s a limited edition color scheme for the new Ford GT supercar inspired by the Number 2 Le Mans-winning GT40 from 1966. The new GT has drawn a lot of comparisons with the old GT40, not least of which is winning Le Mans, which Ford repeated in the GTE Pro class at the famed 24-hour race last weekend.

The black exterior is available in gloss or matte finish, with silver stripes and exposed carbon fiber. White #2 graphics adorn the hood and doors, with gold satin clearcoat 20-inch wheels and black lug nuts finishing off the outside. The interior gets more #2 graphics, gold appliqués on the instrument panel, the X-brace on the seats, and the shift paddles, and a special blue webbing on the seat belts.

The car will be available in limited quantities for 2017 model year GTs only, and that’s if you get picked by Ford to buy one of the pricey supercars.
