Yoko Ono channels Simpsons by exhibiting a single plum, floating in perfume, served in a man’s hat

As outlandish drink orders go, few are more memorable than the “single plum, floating in perfume, served in a man’s hat” requested by The Simpsons’ Yoko Ono analog. Now the woman herself has even paid homage the line, including the drink — plum and all — in an Icelandic exhibit that celebrates her works.

The piece is on show as part of the Yoko Ono: One More Story exhibition at the Reykjavik Art Museum. Ono curated the show, but it’s not actually her work: instead, it’s the creation of Icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson, who responded to a call from Ono to “supply a vessel for the water to give to specific people,” to heal the minds of warlords or appreciate the courage of activists.

Kjartansson’s piece may not be the most thoughtful of conceptual art pieces, copying the cartoon version with impressive precision, but it is a neat nod to one of the best Simpsons episodes ever — and what is early-season Simpsons if not incredible art?
