Saturday Night Live has announced that Alec Baldwin will don the Trump makeup and wig left behind by former cast member and current SNL announcer Darrell Hammond. Before Hammond, the role was played by Taran Killam.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Baldwin will appear in several episodes in the role, similar to the arrangement that SNL made when it cast Larry David as Bernie Sanders last season.

Baldwin currently holds the record for hosting Saturday Night Live, having hosted 16 episodes to Steve Martin’s 15. He is also supposedly close friends with the show’s executive producer Lorne Michaels, who is credited in Tina Fey’s book Bossypants for pulling off the feat of signing Baldwin to a starring role in her sitcom, 30 Rock.
Baldwin has given a smattering of odd comments on Trump’s candidacy in the past: in July of last year he appeared on The Howard Stern Show and remarked that he “would love to see Trump win,” because a Trump presidency would be “exactly what we deserve right now.” This May, however, he told Ellen DeGeneres, “We don’t want a president who looks like he’s been dipped in movie popcorn butter.”
Kate McKinnon, who recently won Saturday Night Live‘s first supporting actress Emmy, will keep her role as Hillary Clinton.
