Amazon is cutting Prime memberships to $79 tomorrow for debut of The Grand Tour

Amazon Prime is getting a pretty enticing price cut tomorrow, with a year of the premium subscription service available for for $79, down from $99. The deal is available to first time subscribers only, and will be up for grabs just tomorrow, Friday November 18th, from 12am ET until 11:59pm PT. The UK has a similar price cut available right now, with a year’s subscription going for £59 (down from £79).

The promotion coincides with the launch of The Grand Tour — Amazon’s original motoring show starring Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May. The Grand Tour is available to watch exclusively on the company’s video streaming service, Prime Video, which comes bundled into a Prime subscription along with other goodies such as free music streaming, unlimited photo storage, and free one-day delivery on certain items.

That last selling point has always been the foundation of Prime’s attraction to consumers, and is a good reason to consider signing up for the service tomorrow if you haven’t already. After all, with Christmas just around the corner and Black Friday deals coming up, if you think you’re likely to spend more than $79 in shipping charges from Amazon in the next year, Prime will end up paying for itself pretty quickly.
