Deezer, the French music-streaming service, has officially launched in the US. For the second time. The service initially became available in the states last year, but only if you owned Sonos and signed up for its $20 a month Hi-Fi service, Deezer Elite. But today anyone in the US can sign up for the $10 a month all-you-can-listen service.
Deezer’s Premium+ service isn’t any different to what you’ll get from Spotify Apple Music, or Tidal’s paid offerings; 40 million songs, unlimited on-demand listening, playlists created by algorithms and music experts, offline support, lyric support, and a personalized playlist service called Flow (similar to Discover Weekly). The streaming service also offers over 40,000 podcasts and news articles, as well as radio stations.
Deezer Elite is still limited to Sonos owners in the US
Strangely enough, Deezer Elite is still limited to Sonos users in the US, so if you’re looking to try out the Hi-Fi service and don’t own Sonos, you’re out of luck for now. Deezer is available with a 30-day free trial in the App Store, Google Play, the Windows Store, and from Deezer.com.
If you own an iOS device and plan on signing up for the service, the only way to get the $10 a month price is through Deezer’s website — signing up for a subscription through the iOS app will cost you $12.99 a month due to the App Store’s 30 percent tax.
