Meet this new apple-picking robot

Inspired by immigrant workers in the U.S., who will likely soon be scarce, Abundant Robotics created a robot to pick apples in the field.

The robot can identify, pluck, and place apples into a crate at a speed similar to that of human pickers.

The robot pickers are currently being tested in Washington state.

The company expects to see these robots in orchards in the next few years.
