Wearable Devices is moving into the wearable technology landscape with the announcement of the general availability of its Mudra Band, a neural interface wristband that lets you control Apple devices with a flick of the wrist.

Debuting at CES 2024, the Mudra Band previously won the “Best of CES Innovation Award 2021” back in 2021 and it’s finally ready to hit the market after beta testing. Wearable Devices is based in Yokneam Illit, Israel.

Seamlessly connecting to a user’s Apple ecosystem, including iPhone, iPad, AppleTV, and Mac computers via Bluetooth, the device harnesses Surface Nerve Conductance (SNC) sensors. These sensors capture neural signals conveyed through wrist and finger movements, translating these subtle gestures into functional commands for controlling Apple devices, a feature coined as “Air-Touch.” It might be a tough sell, given you can control your devices with keyboards, mice and buttons already.

But it does seem innovative and it’s taking us down an interesting road. Following the shipment of most pre-orders, Wearable Devices now announces the Mudra Band’s immediate availability for new orders, alongside the unveiling of two new features.

The Mudra Band has 6DoF control.

These additions include gesture-based device toggling and the integration of six degrees of freedom (6DoF) Air-Touch capability. The 6DoF technology empowers the Mudra Band to recognize a user’s intricate finger movements, introducing an unprecedented level of control with six degrees of freedom in three perpendicular axes, adding forward and backward gestures to its arsenal.

“The Mudra Band genuinely redefines how humans interact with technology, eliminating the need for physical contact and bridging the gap between human input capacity and output efficiency,” said Asher Dahan, CEO of Wearable Devices, in a statement. “By leveraging bio-potential sensors and a sophisticated fusion of SNC and IMU sensors, this device offers unprecedented accuracy and ease-of-use, fulfilling the promise of a truly natural user interface.”
