I imagine there are a lot of embarrassing first YouTube videos out there of vloggers staring into their webcams with no idea what to do. The Rock is obviously not going to be one of those vloggers. Dwayne Johnson launched his YouTube account today with nothing less than a movie trailer about how epic (or not so epic) his channel is going to be.
Another social platform for The Rock to take over
The channel will include videos from Johnson himself, as well as an action series, collaborations with other figures who “inspire” and “motivate,” and looks at projects from his production company, according to Variety. Johnson’s channel is actually the latest project out of his production company, Seven Bucks Productions, so it’s not surprising that part of the goal here is to leverage YouTube to promote The Rock’s other projects.
That’s part of what makes the launch of this channel so interesting. Johnson has become a huge fixture across social media, and it’s easy to picture this channel becoming another powerful tool for him to connect with fans, if not a platform his company can actually start to monetize. At least, so long as Johnson manages to find the time in his increasingly busy schedule.
